Gold Of My Own

Gold Of My Own is a concept originating from Pern Games and the rampant favoritism of goldriders and bronzeriders to give the much coveted gold dragons to their friends or people they liked. This would create people similar to, but not quite the same as, Feature Characters.

In response, people who felt they deserved the favoritism would then go off and make their own Pern game where they had a gold dragon and can be special snowflakes. Most Pern games are Gold Of My Own games.

Present Usage

The word "Gold" may be replaced by anything (often "Mush Of My Own") and represents how people feel they deserve special perks and can only get them if they are in control.

It's also intended as a comment on the horrible and unfair way someone was treated staff of the game being left, plus a statement that the person leaving can do so much better, but almost never does. (Tartarus was a Gold Of My Own game.)

In spite of these, Gold Of My Own games are not necessarily Sandbox games or run by PHBs.

"Gold Of My Own" is not to be confused with "R@ygold Of My Own" which is loosely defined as any MU* operated by Leprechaun.

Brent defines "vendetta MU*s" to be the subset of GOMO games where the implementators are 1) extremely disgruntled and 2) extremely incompetent.
